Efisiensi Kerja – Lab Test Geoteknik lama

Soal lamanya test geoteknik di laboratorium, memang betul, mengapa?

Kalau hasil mau bagus, test konsolidasi saja per test perlu minimal 7 hari!! Itupun test hanya max sampai 8 atau 16 kg/cm2. Padahal terbaik kalau bisa hingga 32 – 64 kg/cm2.

Test index properties, tiap sample kan mesti di oven, dan itu harus 24 jam!. Test hidrometer juga perlu waktu.

Belum lagi test triaxial, kalau triaxial UU memang relatif cepat. Test triaxial CU perlu 24 jam konsodasi dulu baru di test. Apalagi kalau triaxial CD, bisa seminggu atau lebih, makanya tidak ada lab juga yang mau test triaxial CD.

Jadi, kalau mau cepat, ya berarti alat harus ditambah, tempat kerja harus diperbesar, personel harus di tambah. Namun ada masalah lagi. Harga soil test yang dapat dikatakan sulit banget disesuaikan ke atas membuat perusahaan soil test susah invest alat baru dan orang geoteknik bermutu.

Nah disamping hal itu, soal efisiensi kerja, ada masalah besar lain yang terjadi di masyarakat kita ini, diantaranya:

1. Pemilik modal/Developer/Institusi yang mau bangun (termasuk lembaga pemerintah) dalam mengambil keputusan sering kali lama banget di proses planning nya. Setelah memutuskan, maka maunya besok semua sudah jadi.

2. Tenaga kerja kita yang tidak efisien kerjanya. Contoh disini di kompleks perumahan saya, bangun selokan cuma sekitar 200 m sudah dari September sampai hari ini tidak kelar2, itu dari pemprov. Padahal galinya sudah pakai excavator!!

Jadi efisiensi dan etos kerja di kita memang perlu dirombak besar-besaran.

Adakah kemauan untuk itu? Sanggupkah???

Dr. Gouw is a certified Professional Geotechnical Engineer. He has been working in the field of Geotechnical Engineering since 1984. His expertise covering geotechnical investigation, soil instrumentation, deep foundation and excavation for high rise buildings, pile load testing (Static and PDA), pile integrity testing (PIT), sonic logging test, vibration monitoring, slope stability, ground anchors, pumping test, dewatering, micropiles, tunnelling and ground improvement works, e.g. dynamic compaction, vertical drain, vibro-compaction, geosynthetic and grouting. The jobs cover more than 180 projects in Indonesia, Singapore and Srilanka. He has a great passion in the teaching and disseminating of geotechnical engineering knowledge. He serves as lecturer since late 1984. Currently, he serves as Associate Professor at Podomoro University, Jakarta for undergraduate study, and for post graduate students at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Bandung, Indonesia. He also conduct regular geotechnical training for engineers. He also chaired the Indonesian Chapter of International Geosynthetics Society since 2006. He has published 80 papers and 22 technical notes.
