GELAR

Apalah artinya sebuah gelar apabila di keplamu kosong. Dan apalagi artinya sebuah gelar kalau merasa kepala banyak isi tapi prakteknya ngawur, SALAH SANA SALAH SINI?? Salah satu contoh masa hasil Analisa menghasilkan FK Gempa lebih besar dari FK Statik (FK= Faktor keamanan), ini dikerjakan seorang pengajar bergelar S3 loh.

Di Indonesia kita pasang semua gelar dari S1 sampai S3 plus keanggotaan.

Contoh, kalau dipasang semua nih nantinya

Prof. Dr. Ir. MabokGelar ST. M.Eng, ChFC, HATTI, HAKI, PII, STRI, SKA, IPTB DKI, IPTB JABAR, SEAGS, ISSMGE.

Nah loh… Bukankah kalua sudah S3 berarti sudah ada gelar S1 S2. Jadi gelar S1 dan S2 gak perlu dipasang lagi. Kalau sudah Profesor artinya pasti sudah adah S1 s.d S3 jadi gelar S1 sampai S3 gak perlu dipasang lagi.

Padahal di luar negeri kalau masih satu jurusan maka sesudah S3 gelar S1 S2 tidak lagi dipasang, sesudah prof gelar S3 juga gak dipasang lagi. Juga keanggotaan dan profesional engineer nya tidak dipasang lagi. Kalaupun dipasang maka keanggotaan asosiasi profesi itu tidak dipasang di belakang nama. Tetapi di bawah nama, jadi ditulis nya begini:

Prof. LAPARILMU, ChFC

Professional Engineer

M.SEAGS, M.ISSMGE, M.HATTI, M.HAKI


Kalaupun professional engineer nya dipasang di belakang nama maka jadi:

Dr. LaparIlmu P. Eng.

atau

Prof. LaparIlmu P. Eng

Nah…. Loh…. kita mau adu panjang gelar kah? Atau adu dalam ilmu??

Maaf ya, apakah sekolah keinsinyurannya mengajarkan ilmu-ilmu teknik canggih? Atau hanya etik dan administratif plus belajar menulis pengalaman engineering?

Gouw Tjie Liong, Ir., M.Eng, ChFC, PhD

Dr. Gouw is a certified Professional Geotechnical Engineer. He has been working in the field of Geotechnical Engineering since 1984. His expertise covering geotechnical investigation, soil instrumentation, deep foundation and excavation for high rise buildings, pile load testing (Static and PDA), pile integrity testing (PIT), sonic logging test, vibration monitoring, slope stability, ground anchors, pumping test, dewatering, micropiles, tunnelling and ground improvement works, e.g. dynamic compaction, vertical drain, vibro-compaction, geosynthetic and grouting. The jobs cover more than 180 projects in Indonesia, Singapore and Srilanka. He has a great passion in the teaching and disseminating of geotechnical engineering knowledge. He serves as lecturer since late 1984. Currently, he serves as Associate Professor at Podomoro University, Jakarta for undergraduate study, and for post graduate students at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Bandung, Indonesia. He also conduct regular geotechnical training for engineers. He also chaired the Indonesian Chapter of International Geosynthetics Society since 2006. He has published 80 papers and 22 technical notes.
