FAKTOR ELONGASI DALAM PENENTUAN KUAT TARIK dan KEKAKUAN GEOSINTETIK

Ada pertanyaan yang sangat bagus dalam hal penggunaan geosintetik. Pertanyaan yang diajukan seorang praktisi teknik sipil tersebut berbunyi sbb: “Dalam katalog produk geotextile sering disebutkan besar elongation at break suatu bahan dalam %. Yang saya tidak paham kapan kita harus menggunakan elongation besar dan kapan menggunakan elongation kecil?” Ada yang mencoba menjawab sbb: “Saya pikir elongasi bahan geotextile tidak perlu jadi pertimbangan dalam pemilihan bahan. Yang penting adalah kuat tarik atau fungsi khusus tiap jenis geotextile dan muaranya adalah harga. Wowen geotextile bahan HDPE (seperti terpal tenda warna hitam atau biru) biasanya murah namun tidak tahan puncture sementara bahan polyester sangat mahal namun kuat tarik sangat tinggi. Non-woven geotextile ada fungsi tambahan sebagai filter, sementara geogrid punya keunggulan mobilisasi interlocking material gravel. Tinggal pilih saja mana spesifikasi teknis yang masuk kemudian baru pilih yang paling murah dan bisa dikerjakan.”.  Disini penulis mencoba membahas apakah faktor elongasi tersebut perlu? Dan bila diperlukan, untuk apa? Serta berapa kira-kira besaran elongasi yang diperlukan dalam perencanaan suatu bangunan geoteknik yang mengunakan geosintetik sebagai elemen perkuatan.

Dr. Gouw is a certified Professional Geotechnical Engineer. He has been working in the field of Geotechnical Engineering since 1984. His expertise covering geotechnical investigation, soil instrumentation, deep foundation and excavation for high rise buildings, pile load testing (Static and PDA), pile integrity testing (PIT), sonic logging test, vibration monitoring, slope stability, ground anchors, pumping test, dewatering, micropiles, tunnelling and ground improvement works, e.g. dynamic compaction, vertical drain, vibro-compaction, geosynthetic and grouting. The jobs cover more than 180 projects in Indonesia, Singapore and Srilanka. He has a great passion in the teaching and disseminating of geotechnical engineering knowledge. He serves as lecturer since late 1984. Currently, he serves as Associate Professor at Podomoro University, Jakarta for undergraduate study, and for post graduate students at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Bandung, Indonesia. He also conduct regular geotechnical training for engineers. He also chaired the Indonesian Chapter of International Geosynthetics Society since 2006. He has published 80 papers and 22 technical notes.
